CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS:  We offer a variety of classes for teachers:  Live Workshops or Field Classes, as well as Guided Independent Studies and Customized classes just for you.

Continuing Education Courses for Teachers through The Heritage Institute/Antioch University Seattle.

Credit is available at the 400 level or 500 graduate level.

Antioch University Seattle is an accredited university offering quarter hour credits.
Keith May is a veteran teacher, having taught with the Pendleton School District for 27 years.  He was named 'Outstanding College Educator of the Year' in 1995 by the Oregon/California Trails Association for his work teaching educators about Western Migration. In 1991, Keith received a Kyotaru Fellowship to study developmentally appropriate practices utilized in the Japanese School System. Keith was also named Phi Delta Kappa Elementary Teacher of the Year for Eastern Oregon in 1997. Since 1992, Keith has been taking teachers out on the Oregon Trail with Heritage Institute classes. He is the author of several local history books and Finding the Trail in Oregon.
Christina is a Registered Nurse and has taught junior and senior high math and science and 6th grade. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers for 1998 and 2004-2005. Christina has written a book about pioneer clothing and is a frequent guest speaker on the topic. Christina is currently working as a Clinical Nurse Educator for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center.  Keith and Christina have been married for 33 years and raised 2 boys.

Our workshops include such topics as The 6 Traits of Writing and activities to get you ready for the school year.

You must get on the attendance list AT LEAST one week prior to the start of the course to ensure we have materials and a place for you.
Yes, you CAN bring your spouse or adult friend along to the Field Classes - all they have to do is pay the Workshop and materials fee.
Home study can be fun and useful too!
Our workbooks will guide you step-by-step through the class.
Learn how to use Phonics in your classroom, Create a Theme, explore your State History (need Washington State History for your teaching license?), learn about Lewis & Clark or a MYRIAD of other topics. Work alone or with your colleagues.

We also offer independent driving tour classes that guide you on a trip to actually explore what you are studying first hand. Work alone or with your colleagues. Feel free to take along your family.
