Learn to use the public art in your community to enhance your curriculum.  Energize your classroom art and social studies lessons using public art.  We'll use Pendleton as a case study of art, including bronzes, murals, modern art sculptures, outdoor ceramics and a concrete cattle drive.  Learn how to conduct art walks and gain lessons and projects that can be integrated right away.  Applicable for K-12.

See how population changes affect school systems.  Lessons from the past have applicaitons for current students.  We'll acquire new information and then go into the field to apply it as we study, classify and interpret ghost towns in the area.  Appropriate for K-12 teachers.

What do Oregon Trail ruts look like?  Where can you go to see them?  Get out of the classroom and experience the ruts and sites of the Oregon Trail from the Blue Mountains to Whitman Mission and Tamastslikt and west to Echo Meadows:  the area has a lot for us to explore.  Great classroom applications in writing, math, L.A., art and more.  Great for K-12.

Every school designs programs to promote positive behaviors in their student population.  But are YOU getting what you want from it?  You'll evaluate what you do at your building by answering questions like: Are extrinisic rewards your primary motivator?  Are the rewards linked to vital behaviors?  How do you use incentives wisely?  Learn how to rely on personal and social motivators to carry the bulk of the motivational load in your school.  This course is perfect for those in a building responsible for the "awards assembly" or the classroom teacher who is tired of being nickel and dimed to death buying treats to bribe your class or buried by record-keeping to improve scores or behaviors.
Note:  You can request that this course be brought to your community or school--contact us for more information.
